Project Experience
- New 80-Bed Acute Psychiatric Facility
at the VA Palo Alto Health Care System
in Palo Alto, CA
The conceptual design and operational
and functional needs of the Psychiatric
Administration, Nursing Units, Psychology,
Dieterics, Social Work, Recreation Therapy,
IRMS, Pathology, and EMS were identified.
The 7610 Criteria was used for baseline
decisions for department room sizes
and concept floor plans were developed
to validate that an acceptable floor
plan could be designed within the programmed
square footage.
- New Hoptel at the VA Long Beach Healthcare Center, Long Beach, CA.
For this design/build project, the North South J-1 Corridor of Building 128 was renovated to construct a new Hoptel. Bedrooms, bathrooms, a break room, day center, and corridors were modified to accommodate changes in use and floor plan reconfigurations for overnight patient/guest lodgings. To meet the latest codes and regulations, a new fire protection system was installed as well as ADA compliant plumbing fixtures. R.E.M. provided engineering services for the preparation of all construction drawings and specifications, in addition to complete construction and construction management. Approximately thirty rooms were modified along with a 1,000 s.f. Day Center.
