PROTECTION MEASURES FOR THE NORTH, WEST
AND SOUTH GATES AT EDWARDS AIR FORCE

R.E.M.’s task
was to design
and restore the
guardhouse and
pop-up bollards
at the North,
West and South
Gates. Our
company
developed plans for road improvements to
accommodate bollards on both the incoming and
outgoing lanes. The design included strategic lighting
and bulletproof glass; road configuration for the
design of truck accommodation lanes; and new
outrigger fences to prevent the passage of vehicles.

Reconfigure Vehicular Primary Inspection
Roadway AT THE U.S. Border Station

The main purpose of
the Design-Build Project in San Luis,
AZ was to reconfigure the vehicular
primary inspection roadway at the
Mexico-to-USA north bound entrance
in order to improve vehicular traffic
safety and traffic management. The following
are the main construction items that
accomplished the objective of the project
for the INS under contract with GSA:
* Demolition of existing fencing, asphalt/concrete
pavement, bollards, signs, wheel stops, curbs and
gutters; and removal and relocation of the existing
area light including associated power supply,
concrete foundation and concrete pedestal.
* Installation of new asphalt/concrete pavement at
the Mexico-to-USA northbound entrance.
* Installation of asphalt overlay
at the USA-to-Mexico southbound entrance.
* Installation and painting of new
high impact safety fence posts and
panels.

| FORCE PROTECTION PARKING LOT UPGRADES
AT YUMA PROVING GROUND

Compliance with the force protection regulation,
storm water drainage requirements, and aesthetics
were part of the scope of work at the Laguna Army
Airfield (LAAF) and KFR where the redesign of 10
parking lots, along Aberdeen Rd. and Campo Avion
Rd., for each facility was provided. Force Protection
Design was developed to comply with new
requirements for reinforcement around the building to
prevent vehicles from driving in close proximity.

INSTALL NEW MARINE SAFETY AND
SECURITY (MSST) BUILDING

Design-Build project to install the Marine Safety and
Security (MSST) Building at Integrated Support
Command (ISC) in San Pedro, CA. Scope of work:
* Pre-engineering and installation of new leased
5,040 sq. ft. modular building for office use.
* Prepared design/engineering of construction
drawings for site work.
* Project involved multi-discipline engineering and
construction: Civil, Electrical, Mechanical/
Plumbing, and ADA Compliance.
* Responsible for Construction Management, Cost
Estimating, and Scheduling.
* Benefits of the modular building
installation: quick facility completion
time, construction cost savings, and
lasting durability.
